HR Leadership

This course provides an overview of the human resource functions of a school leader and introduces strategies to create inclusive, effective learning environments. Students investigate models of teacher evaluation, analyze data and design professional development experiences utilizing research-based practices and accountability plans to address learner achievement gaps.



Course Learning Outcomes

Analyze data to determine teacher effectiveness.

Principal Quality Standards Addressed in this Course

Evaluator Training Standard I: Evaluators will be able to identify the connection points within the evaluation cycle.

Evaluator Training Standard I: Evaluators will be able to apply observation and feedback best practices to their evaluation process.

Evaluator Training Standard III: Evaluators will be able to identify potential for bias in observations and data collection.

Evaluator Training Standard IV:Evaluators will obtain strategies for interpreting observation data and preparing for meaningful feedback and follow-up for educators

Evaluator Training Standard V: Evaluators will be familiar with resources to support the evaluation process and educators’ ongoing professional growth and development.

Artifacts

Throughout CSU Global’s courses principal candidates research, analyze, demonstrate and apply skills aligned with the Colorado Principal Quality Standards .Candidates reflected on curricular and instructional initiatives at their school and collaborated with their mentors to develop a performance challenge goal. 

Artifact 1

Staff Mentoring Program

Represents: Creation of a staff mentoring program that supports staff development to ensure staff are meeting professional standards and are prepared for formal evaluations.

Evidence of: Understanding that all staff need ongoing coaching and mentoring to show professional growth and meet professional standards.

Artifact 2

Professional Growth Plan

Represents: Observation, coaching and feedback conducted with a teacher. 

Evidence of: Effective use of staff observations to provide feedback and conduct staff evaluations.

Artifact 3

Induction Plan

Represents: Creation of a formalized induction program that supports new teachers in meeting professional standards and ultimately positively impacting students.

Evidence of: Alignment of evaluation system to local induction program requirements.

Artifact 4

Professional Learning Needs and Support Plan

Represents: Development of a year-long professional development plan. 

Evidence of: Ability to address needs identified during evaluations and data analysis within a professional development plan.
